Handy and compact
No need to search for a calculator. UltimaCalc's main window is small and resizeable, so you can leave it open all the time, on top of other windows, ready for use.

Use hot keys to hide and restore the main window.
You can hide the title bar to save even more space, yet still be able to drag UltimaCalc around the screen.
And you can make the window transparent when it is inactive, so you can read a document underneath it.

What, no buttons?
UltimaCalc is not a hand-held calculator! If you want a hand-held, buy a hand-held. UltimaCalc doesn't even try to look like a hand-held calculator. What do you need a stack of buttons for?
UltimaCalc is simpler to use than a hand-held calculator. No multiple-function keys. Not even a memory key. No need.
Because it uses text input rather than showing you a load of buttons to click, UltimaCalc uses up little space on your precious screen. Less mouse clicking means quicker work.

UltimaCalc — The Ultimate Windows Math Toolbox

Designed to simplify the computations of scientists, engineers, researchers, and students, UltimaCalc solves a wide range of problems. Simply.

A Symbolic Algebra module is the major feature of UltimaCalc Professional; the other version, UltimaCalc Standard, does not have this module, but is otherwise the same.

Advanced Symbolic Algebra

The Symbolic Algebra module lets you can perform manipulations on algebraic expressions, as distinct from merely evaluating them. For example, you can simplify expressions and prove equivalences.

Do calculus - differentiate an expression, find its integral, see how the integral was found. Find Taylor series with ease.

Factorise polynomials, divide one polynomial by another, find the GCD of two polynomials, and do much more.

New: Algebra can now handle matrices.

Special Tools

UltimaCalc can calculate standard deviations and other statistics, fit lines or curves to your data, find the values of variables that minimise an expression, plot functions, find the roots of polynomials, solve simultaneous linear and non-linear equations, plot functions, solve triangles, create charts. It can even help you to navigate. Find out more here.

  • Professional version performs symbolic algebra, including simplification, differentiation, integration (with explanation). Factorise and divide polynomials, etc...
  • Calculate standard deviation, mean, median, sample standard deviation, population standard deviation, variance, skewness, kurtosis. New: Import data from file or spreadsheet.
  • Solve simultaneous linear equations.
  • Simultaneous nonlinear equations, too.
  • Find the values of variables that minimise an expression.
  • Find the roots of polynomials.
  • Plot functions, including parametric functions.
  • Create charts: bar charts, pie charts, line charts.
  • Calculate various forms of least squares fit (linear, polynomial, multivariate and absolute deviation regressions, fit a non-linear expression to the data). New: Import data from file or spreadsheet.
  • Solve triangles.
  • Calculate Great Circle and Rhumb line courses for navigation.

True Algebraic Input

Not just arithmetic expressions and functions, but variables as well. Type in algebraic expressions as plain text. For example, enter the line:
x = 12; x + 1/x
UltimaCalc main window, with no title bar, running on Vista.UltimaCalc will create a variable called x, give it the value 12, then calculate the next expression using this value for x. Change the 12 to some other value, hit Enter, and recalculate.

Almost all of the specialist tools will accept algebraic expressions as input data.

User-Defined Functions

Define your own functions, then use them just like the built-in functions. Save your handy functions and build up a library of them. Define your own constants, too.

High Precision

Work to an amazing 38 digits of precision. Some kinds of calculation are very sensitive to small errors in calculation. UltimaCalc's massive internal precision minimises these small errors. But you don't always need to actually see so many digits. So UltimaCalc lets you decide how many to show. In the picture above, only the 12 most significant digits are displayed. The following picture shows the full number of digits displayed, using the smallest font:

And much more:

UltimaCalc has a whole load of other features too:

  • A handy reference table of more than a hundred constants.
  • Save the calculations made with the special tools, and open them from the main window, or from inside Windows Explorer.
  • See what you typed, log all calculations to a plain text file.
  • Suffixes on numbers, useful for engineering calculations and for working with dates.
  • Calculate definite integrals, to the accuracy you specify.
  • Calculate the slope of a line given its end points.
  • Work with dates, calculate the date of Easter for any year.
  • Copy and paste calculations to other applications as plain text.
  • Choice of font sizes. Choose your own background colour.

No riskUltimaCalc is free to try, and comes with a no-quibble 60-day money back guarantee. You can buy UltimaCalc at no risk via a secure server. (If you are not sure what the price is in your local currency, don't worry - the order page will tell you the current equivalent.)

Different fonts and colours

Perhaps you would like UltimaCalc to stand out more prominently from the background, or perhaps you just feel like a change of colour. No problem. Then again, when you are using a high-resolution display, you might find the digits a bit small for comfortable reading. Also no problem. You can change the font size and the background colour:

UltimaCalc main window, using a large font and yellow background.

UltimaCalc has been designed to work on all modern versions of Windows, including Vista. Please browse this web site to gain some appreciation of the features packed into UltimaCalc, and download the evaluation version. If you then still have questions or would like to contact an UltimaCalc representative regarding our product, please contact us. 60 day guarantee
